sustainable - regional - seasonal - healthy & biological - fair!

The Berghotel is a hotel in the mountains, built in the style of the mountains and with materials from the mountains: stone, wood, and glass, and insulated with natural fibreboards and rock wool. For the furnishings we employed solid wood furniture, wooden floors, and natural stone. Fitted carpets were used only where it was necessary out of sound protection reasons. We don't like plastic. Our ground products are regional and organic and hightest quality, we don't waste, we act sustainable and responsable now and not tomorrow.

A holiday at the Berghotel means doing without nothing, but that doesn't mean wastefulness.
We behave in an environmentally friendly and responsible way - not a religion, but an attitude!

Our kitchen works with the highest quality regional, organic and fair trade products. We treat our food with the same care and attention as we do our environment, i.e. we try to throw it away as little as possible and recycle it as a whole. Meat comes from here and vegetarians are also happy. People with intolerances and vegans can serve at the buffet. We try to cater to all wishes and needs, but allow us to point out that we do not specialise in diets or special intolerances.
We consider the seasonality of the products, only in this way are they tasty and retain their nutritional values and we generate less traffic. Local cycles, few kilometres!
We wash towels, bed linen, bathrobes, napkins etc. when YOU deem it necessary and not at fixed times. In this way, we together avoid vast amounts of toxic detergents, which is why a daily bathrobe change, for example, is charged separately.
You will find towels for the sauna in your room and not in the wellness area - this is the only way we can counteract wasteful consumption.
Please bring your own bathing slippers. High quality slippers are also available for purchase at reception for a contribution towards expenses. We do not have throw-away slippers.
We use 100 % hydroelectricity and heat from wood, chlorine is produced from salt, and there is almost no plastic. We are fanatical waste separators and residual waste is produced in a maximum of 1 container per week.
In the bathrooms and in the SPA you will find high-quality natural products made of mountain pine & Swiss pine from the South Tyrolean company "Trehs" in the large glass bottle. We do not use the usual plastic waste-generating cosmetic products in small sizes that are thrown away every day.
We attach great importance to huts and alpine pastures remaining managed, because only an open hut is a beautiful hut. If you go on tours in lonely areas or the hut is closed, we are happy to offer to take along a hiking snack for a fair payment.

We balance our Berghotel according to the Climate Neutrality Alliance and are certified according to EU Ecolabel and GSTC. We want to be as transparent and open as possible. You will find the same faces every year - people who are there for you with a lot of team spirit, professionalism and joy. No feigned friendliness, but honesty. You will enjoy our great working atmosphere at eye level!

Do you have a special request? Every now and then something can go wrong - please talk to us! Anonymous complaining in the various review portals does no one any good and does not correspond to our style. The Berghotel is sustainable, honest, direct and relaxed and please decide before booking whether you don't want to book because of this (e.g. because you want a new bathrobe every day, our meal times don't satisfy you, or you expect a styled mainstream hotel with trained sales behaviour) or precisely because you can expect a lot of beautiful mountain holidays among people at a very good price-performance ratio.

P.S. The Berghotel Sexten is classified 4 ****s - we don't want to go any further because certain ecological arguments don't fit with the 5 ***** standards, e.g. the change of bed linen and napkins, packaging...! But it makes sense to be sustainable and responsible!

Sport:

Sport activities of all kinds. Do something good for your body, so that the spirit feels like living in it. In summer we hike, ramble, and climb, we cycle on a bike or mountain bike, swim, run… and in winter we ski, do cross-country skiing/skating, ramble with or without snow shoes, do tobogganing, practise ski touring… in other words: we keep fit and look after our health. Be active at the Berghotel. We are member of the Wanderhotels - the leading hikinghotels in Europe certified with 5 mountain cristals - this is a guarantee for best holidays in the mountains.
The same is for mountainbiking, super trails, flowing, lonely tours, alone or in a group guided with the professionals of the Bikeacademy Dolomites of Sesto. We can offer best mountainbiking in the Drei Zinnen region and the Dolomites of Sesto - also in combination with via ferrate, fixed rope tours in one of the hotspots for this beautiful mountain activity

An intact nature is the basis, therefore we care for it and deal with it in an attentive way. We live on a spot where we can drink out of rivers and where the air we breath could not be better. We want it to stay like this! The Nature Park Drei Zinnen - Tre Cime and the Unesco Worldheritage Dolomites garantee for this

Our contribution to environment

Environmental protection - sustainability - throwing away as little as possible ... we've been doing this for a long time, and not just since it's hip and recommended for marketing purposes. What we write in the following lines, we not only say, but have consistently been doing it for more than 15 years. We are not able to document everything up to the last consequence. If the information is not complete enough, please ask questions x mail, or even better personally during your next stay

Reduction in the use of detergents which pollute the waters thank to the systematic use of dispensing units. The guest also contributes to the environmental protection deciding when he wants his bedclothes, towels and napkins to be washed.You can also decide not to have a daily cleaning of your room.
Avoidance of traffic and its consequences – boosting of the local economy. We buy as much as we can as near as possible. Works are carried out by local companies and artisans, so we produce as little traffic as possible. Both for winter and summer activities we have created preconditions so that our guests do not need to use their car.
Reduction of the energy consumption thank to a good thermal insulation of the windows, the roof and the walls. The energy is driven exclusively from „clean“ and renewable sources. Hot water comes from about 70m² solar cells. The energy for heating and warm water (when the sun does not shine) comes from the biomass (wood) district heating plant Sexten and the electricity is produced exclusively by hydroelectric power stations.
Illumination is switched by sensors, all rooms have a central switch so that the guest also may contribute. Wherever possible we use energy saving bulbs.
Avoidance of rubbish and packaging material wherever possible. We use recyclable systems and keep the packaging units as big as possible. The rest is carefully separated and correctly disposed of.
Healthy and natural food - our motto. We use food which still has an own taste, which has been manipulated as little as possible and not modified chemically. We reach this goal supporting the small cycles, local products and regional cooking, and using traditional recipes. We avoid Convenience Food and use finished products only where it makes sense. Storable goods are bought in big quantities in order to avoid traffic.

that means the we act how we talk. We live every day this philosophy in our private life and in the Berghotel. Real hospitality and not a faked smile, no selling tricks or pressure the staff to sell. Easy going atmosphere, a bit laid-back and if something goes wrong, we will not panic but resolve it. A place for all generations. And every day we try to do our best!

There is no Fast Food at the Berghotel, also no Convenience Food and ready to go dishes. We use local and biological products and support small regional circuits with consequence.

On that we can become pedantic - for this is responsable our chefs Andrea, Pietro and Hubert, our service team and sommeliers Stefan, Matthias and Max and last but not least chief Walter

Relax:

At the Berghotel time passes slower. We don´t like rush, stress and unnecessary pressure. Peace, cosiness, a genuine ambience, large glass facades, comfortable reading armchairs… You can slow down and recharge your batteries.
